New Trailer - New Super Mario Bros 2

A new 'New SMB2' trailer was uploaded to YouTube today.  Overall the website and information we've seen has basically stayed the same, though several items were new to me.  Catch the video after the break for more details:

What's New?

  • Horizontal canon blast to the right
  • Additional views of levels/platforming and coin collection.
  • Micro Mushroom - Appears to allow you to walk on water and/or gain airtime while jumping.
  • Mega Mushroom - Holy moly Mario is HUGE!
  • Gold mode appears to even work for large enemies like bullet bill.
  • White Tanooki Invincibility Suit - I've read news on this and it appears to operate the same or similar as SMB 3D Land.

The large Mario may be a repeat from NSMB/NSMBWii, but I'm not entirely sure.  (either way I haven't played them)  As before I'm still excited to give this a go next month and looking forward to any other tidbits we may see in the coming weeks.

Were there any features in particular you're interested in and/or feel were a repeat from previous installments?

There's a Micro Mushroom in another one, either Wii or DS, not sure which even though we have both in the house. For some reason, I want to say DS.

I expect you to reach the one million coins first (or 10 million, or 100 million). No sleep, until it's done...get the coffee stocked, filters pre-loaded, and water ready!

  2. After looking at some other videos it does appear that the mini/micro mushroom was in previous versions.  So, new and cool to me.

Here's a pretty cool analysis video as well: http://youtu.be/hCE_03-lduI

I'm sure I'll be first to a million and then some.  No sleep till:  ONE-MILLION!

  3. GameXplain does some great videos. I think the team there, are mostly ex-IGN staffers if I remember correctly. They were part of the staff/teams that got cut I think last year in the big layoffs?

It's unfortunate that they were cut and only now are producing these type of videos (maybe I missed them at IGN?). IGN could use some of these type of videos to actually look professional and like they're interested in Nintendo news/articles, IMO.

I could be wrong about the IGN thing, but I think that's how they got started.....

As for, "I'm sure I'll be first to a million and then some.  No sleep till:  ONE-MILLION!"

When you complete this, you can change the name of the site...to "FIRST COMPLETED!" or something along those lines.
